What is Girls in TEGirls in TE is a non profit organization based in London, Canada. Founded in 2017, Girls in TE has increased exposure and gender diversity within Canada through career talks, socially collaborative workshops, and hands-on experiences for high school girls interested in STEM. As the future of technology will be utilized by both men and women, it only makes sense for it to be established by both genders to increase the possibility of the limitless innovations and solutions that could be created.

Why Girls in TE?
As an organization, our main objective is to increase gender diversity within the technology and engineering fields. According to the National Center for Women and Information Technology, diversity in computing is greatly lacking. They state that "Women, especially women of colour, are essentially 'absent' from technology innovation." In 2017, less than 26% of the computing workforce were women, and less than 10% were women of colour. A change in leadership is a crucial step
The technology and engineering fields require a change in leadership in order to allow for more gender diversity. We believe that passion and exposure to STEM at an early age is what creates the next tech leaders of this generation.
